Materials You Need:
Glue:
- 1 cup of flour
- 2/ 2.5 cups of water
- Shallow dish
Paper- Mache:
- Newspapers or magazines
- Scissors
- Balloon or Dish
- Plastic bag
- Rectangular box
- Covering for the table
Decoration:
- Paints
- Glue
- Tape
- Markers
- Tissue paper
- Tinfoil
Instructions:
- Mix flour and water in the shallow dish to make glue. The consistency should be watery, but not too thick or thin.
- Cut newspapers or magazines into strips.
- Blow up the balloon to the desired size and place it in the rectangular box.
- Dip the newspaper/ magazine strips into the glue. Run the strip between 2 fingers to remove excess glue and place it on the balloon.
- Repeat step 4 until the balloon is covered. It is recommended to cover the balloon in several layers as it will make the paper mache more sturdy.
- Set the paper-mache aside to dry completely and then decorate it!
If you do not wish to use a balloon, use a dish instead! Cover the dish with a plastic bag and start at step 4. The plastic bag will make it easier to remove the paper mache from the dish when the paper mache dries completely.
