Water Crafts

Check out these TWO fun ways to use water in arts and crafts! Make your own storm cloud and jellyfish in a bottle with water as the key ingredient! Who knew water could be so fun?

Materials You Need:

  • A bowl of water
  • Shaving cream
  • Paint
  • Eyedropper
  • Plastic bottle
  • Plastic bag
  • Glitter
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Strings

Instructions:

Storm Cloud:

  1. Fill a bowl with water and spray a layer of shaving cream on top of the water.
  2. Use eyedroppers to dribble different colors of paint onto the shaving cream.
  3. Soon, the paint will weigh down the shaving cream and bleed into the water!
This follows the concept of how rain is created:
Clouds are made from water vapors gathering in the air. As more and more water vapor gather, the weight becomes too much to keep suspended in the air, and falls as rain!

Jellyfish in a Bottle:

  1. Fill the plastic bottle with water and color with the desired paint.
  2. Cut a square from a plastic bag. Apply glue to the surface, sprinkle glitter on top, and let it dry.
  3. Fold the square diagonally in half to make a triable.
  4. Fold the triangle in half to make another, smaller triangle.
  5. Leave space at the pointed top (the head) and draw lines at the bottom (the tentacles). Cut along those lines.
  6. Open the plastic bag back to a square,
  7. Make a ring with your finger, place the plastic square on top, and press to make an indent.
  8. Pour water in the indent and secure with a string to keep the water trapped.
  9. Insert into the bottle and watch your jellyfish float to the top!
