The Dice Game

The Dice Game is a really fun and simple activity that will get your body moving! The game can be adapted to many different situations and locations. Have fun!!!

Materials You Need:

  • A dice or two
  • A piece of paper
  • Something to write with

Instructions:

Number your sheet of paper 1-6. Think of six different movement activities and assign each to a number. For example:

  1. Hop on one leg.
  2. Jumping jacks.
  3. Marching.
  4. Move like an astronaut.
  5. Act like a rocket.
  6. Freestyle.

Roll the die, and do the activity number it lands on. If I roll a 2, I know I have to do jumping jacks.

Roll the die a second time (or use a second die if you have), and whatever number it lands on tells you how many times you need to do the activity. If I roll a 5 the second time, I know I have to do 5 jumping jacks.

For some movements, like "move like an astronaut" or "freestyle," the number of the second dice roll will indicate seconds in intervals of 10. So, for example, if on the second dice roll you roll a 3, you will do the movement for 30 seconds. A roll of 1 signifies doing the movement for 10 seconds.

You can change the list of 6 movements to anything you would like. If you are swimming in a pool, some of your movements can be to swim to the bottom, swim across the pool, do a cannonball, etc.

Try to act out every possible combination of movements and time intervals!

The possibilities are endless! Enjoy!
